In the Sixties, Opel had a reputation for reliability and responsibility, but struggled to inspire. To remedy this, the brand presented their first GT prototype at the Frankfurt show of '65. Commercialized in September of 1968, its ridged hood, elongated muzzle and retractable headlights found inspiration on the other side of the Atlantic with Corvette. The bodywork was produced in France at Chausson's, and the car found her 4-cylinder 90 horsepower engine at Opel in Bochum.
