L’histoire commence avec une idée folle : greffer un V8 américain sur une petite auto anglaise. Shelby s’associe à un fabricant anglais, AC. La Cobra voit le jour en 1962. Plusieurs versions se succèdent dont la célèbre 427 qui embarque un moteur « Big Block » 427 de 7 litres développant 420cv ! Seulement 350 exemplaires officiels existent dans le monde, vous avez donc sûrement plus de chance de croiser une copie qu’une vraie AC Cobra 427 !

The American racing driver Carroll Shelby is known for his strokes of genius, whether in motor racing (Le Mans 1959 or 1966) or for his car designs. The story begins with a crazy idea: to graft an American V8 onto a small English car. Shelby joined forces with an English manufacturer, AC. The Cobra was born in 1962. Several versions followed, including the celebrated 427 with a 7-litre “Big Block” 427 engine developing 420hp! Only 350 official examples exist in the world, so you’re more likely to spot a copy than a real AC Cobra 427!
